astoneco management was founded in 2002 on the back of significant natural resource and environmental project experience throughout Europe and Africa; astoneco management resulted from an observation that it was poor stakeholder engagement rather than poor technical design that caused most project difficulties. Further, if engagement was systematically integrated within and around projects from the conceptual design stage, this approach would allow for a a real contribution to the sustainable development of both the project (through innovative solutions) and the host stakeholders (through genuine local decision making).

astoneco's work is supported by the significant work conducted internationally by such organizations as AccountAbility, the IFC and Worldbank, ISO (in their standard for Social Responsibility), EABIS, among many others. All of this has lead to an organizational model that is effective in a society where trust in business and governments has eroded while the expectations for sustainable development have become higher; and where realities and perceptions alike have won greater credibility in media and on the internet.

astoneco management, present throughout Romania with additional bases in the UK, France, Ireland, Brussels and Vienna, is able to conduct assignments throughout the EU. astoneco also conducts assignements worldwide if the projects are sufficiently challenging and have a genuine committent to sustainable development.
